Frequently asked questions

Please take your time to read through some rules and policies to ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience.  Feel free to reach out if you have further queries.

How do I get a seat?

Dates are announced periodically. Indicate your interest to join the waitlist — this does not confirm a seat.

2

When is my seat confirmed?

Only upon full prepayment,  once a date is offered to you.  Payment links will be sent, which needs to be fulfilled within 24hrs. Otherwise, the seat goes to the next available guest.

3

Can I cancel or change my date?

a) A full refund of the prepayment will be made for cancellations at least 72 hours before the dinner date.

b) No refunds are made for cancellations after this point — instead, you may reschedule to another date within 8 weeks of the original dinner date. For the avoidance of doubt, the rescheduled dinner is not eligible for any refund, even if cancelled 72 hours or more in advance, nor further date changes. If a new date is not booked within this 8-week period, the prepayment is forfeited.

4

What if I have allergies or dietary preferences?

KAI is a single, sequenced tasting menu for the whole table, each course is built to follow the one before it, and substitutions compromise that sequence.  We're glad to exclude a garnish, or leave off a finishing element wherever practical. For this reason, we do not accommodate dietary requirements, allergies, or preferences of any kind. Please consider this carefully before booking. We're happy to share the full course list in advance so you can decide if KAI is right for you and your guests.

5

Do you offer a vegetarian menu?

Our regular tasting menu is not vegetarian, and we're not able to offer a mixed table of vegetarian and standard menus within the same seating.  KAI occasionally opens select limited dates for a vegetarian only tasting menu built specifically for that — same technique, same single-table experience.  Please indicate your diet in your enquiry.

6

What if I'm running late?

Dinner starts on time for the full table. If you arrive after service has begun, you'll join at whichever course is being served; earlier courses will be brought to you when convenient for the kitchen, not immediately.

7

Is this a private table just for my group?

Not always — seatings run 6–8 guests, so smaller groups may be joined by other diners at the same table.

8

How long does dinner run?

Approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.

9

BYO wine policy

KAI welcomes BYO wine — corkage is $30 per bottle. We'll open your bottle and provide stemware and chilling, but as a home-based venue, we're not licensed to pour or serve alcohol, so guests pour their own throughout the evening. Decanting isn't available. Please let us know at booking if you're bringing wine so we can prep glassware/ice accordingly.
